West Side Community House offers an array of different Family Services programs.

Community-Based Services works intensively with families to prevent involvement with Children Services and advocates for families currently navigating the Child Protective Services System. As advocates, we attend family team meetings and provide visitation space for families within their community.

Wrap for Success is a family strengthening program that works with vulnerable and at-risk parents to promote effective, non-violent parenting and to help parents build a network of natural supports and social connections in the community.

Tapestry System of Care provides parent advocacy for families with children with mental health conditions or who are involved in the juvenile justice system.

Family Services Success Story

Jennifer came to West Side Community House in crisis, struggling with substance abuse and having lost custody of her newborn daughter.  Here at WSCH, she connected with a Family Advocate who understood the road she walked from personal experience and helped her find treatment. Here at WSCH, she connected with the foster mother who was caring for her daughter through coordinated visits in a loving environment.  Here at WSCH, she connected with a support group that helped her define her goals and work to meet them.

Today, Jennifer is healthy and sober.  This Spring she made the incredibly difficult decision to give her daughter up for adoption to the foster mom who has raised her for two years, and who has become a dear friend.  Success and healing can look a lot of different ways here at West Side Community House, and it is not always what we expect when we start.  Jennifer and the foster mom recently got matching tattoos signifying their commitment to work together to do what is best for their daughter.  The tattoos depict three birds, a reference to the gospel hymn, “His Eye is On the Sparrow.”
