East Ohio Conference Advance Special #9933
United Methodist Women Supplemental Gifts #N180913
West Side Community House is very grateful for a long and wonderful partnership with the United Methodist Church. Founded in 1890 as the Methodist Deaconess Home of Cleveland by the then Methodist Episcopal Church, West Side Community House has a rich history of caring for Cleveland’s west side and responding to the changing needs of its people.
Today, West Side Community House maintains its covenant relationship with United Methodist Women and is the only United Methodist National Mission Institution in northeast Ohio. United Methodists continue to provide leadership on our Board. United Methodist members include a representative from the East Ohio Conference UMW, the president of North Coast District UMW and a representative from UMC North Coast District. They also serve as active volunteers in our senior and family programs and generously make contributions to sustain WSCH programs and services to low-income children, families and seniors on Cleveland’s west side. You will find the names of many United Methodist churches, UMW units and individuals on our donor and volunteer recognition pages.
On March 23, 2019, United Methodist Women will mark its 150 years of women in mission with services to and advocacy for underserved women, children and youth. To prepare you for that joyous celebration, we would like to share these historical photos of Methodist Deaconesses at West Side Community House where we still practice Faith in Action.
